WELCOME TO RISK-EOS

OVERVIEW

Started since 2003, RISK-EOS is a network of European service providers delivering geo-information services to support the management of flood, fire and other risk throughout all phases :

  • Prevention,
  • Early warning
  • Crisis
  • Post crisis.

The RISK-EOS services combine the use of satellite observation data with exogeneous data and modelling techniques.
They are targeted to serve the needs of all risk management actors at European, National and Regional levels :

  • Civil protections, fire fighting and rescue services,
  • Land planning and risks prevention services,
  • Territorial communities

The RISK-EOS services have been developed and qualified in close synergy with operational users of five European countries, federated by the National Civil Protection services of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden.

RISK-EOS is part of the GMES Service Element Programme and is supported by the European Space Agency .

SERVICES SUMMARY The baseline services includes 6 operational services :
  • Assets Mapping: Mapping of urban extension and evolutions in areas subject to risks.
  • Flood Risk Analysis: based on mapping of past flood events, hydraulic simulations, potential damage assessment,
  • Flash Flood Early Warning: based on real-time precipitation radars and hydrological models. Delivers anticipated information of risk flood.
Rapid Mapping: Rapid mapping and damage assessment of flood, fire events and any type of disasters like earthquake, in support to CHARTER or as direct end-to-end service for regional impact events.
  • Burn Scars Mapping: yearly mapping after the fire season of the areas burnt by forest fires.
